How’s your New Year’s resolution, revolution going?

Strange times. Back in December 2008 - seems like eons ago given the volatility of markets and the volume of quantative easing soundbites – there occurred a (relatively) close line-up of Jupiter and Venus shining just below the Moon that coincided with a 1% interest rate drop.  The recent cut to just half of one per cent, the lowest since records began, correlated with Mercury forming a conjunction to Neptune, the planet of illusion.

Without a Mystic Meg impersonation or putting myself forward as a sage magus offering portent, it is interesting to note that many in the business community think this latest cut does little to alleviate the availability of money or the view that bankers are out of their minds! I would simply state that in my fifteen years as a business advisor, I’ve yet to meet anyone who works in a bank who has actually run a business…..

Perhaps the heavens also influenced the diverse outlook of those clients seeking my counsel earlier this month. Well, many a farmer will impart the wisdom of lunar crop care and notwithstanding the spreadbetting traders of my acquaintance whom acknowledge moon phases, several successful businesspeople I also know, don’t make decisions without an ephemeris consult.

That’s the engaging aspect of my role; disparate beliefs, assorted backgrounds and sundry skills conjunct in the common purpose of ‘making a difference’. Constellations coming together, perhaps in time spinning off to create other stars. Being around cardinal ‘can do’ people rather than listening to all the reasons ‘why not’ is especially rewarding.

So, client privilege respected, my varied week comprised sharp alignment: urgent advice regarding an impending tender response (bid writers take note: read the small print), mediating management and front line personnel opposition, retrograde cashflow, progressed grant applications and a Community Interest Company on the ascendant.

They say marketing incorporating sextiles sells, or was that something else? If you can do better, I can offer business support on developing your freelance eco-journalist start-up potential.
